Haircuts and Head bumps
Playing with blocks on a cold day. (We couldn't figure out a way to make the blocks spell Laney)Notice Connor's new haircut. Scott started out trimming it, and it just kept getting shorter and shorter. I know Connor is getting older, because this is his first haircut that was not an event.
Connor had a ton of hair (see above picture). We had to cut it b/c he kept twisting it into knots. When he went to bed that night, he laid down and tried to twirl his hair. There was nothing there and he asked me, "Mommy can I borrow your hair?" I thought he just wanted to hold on to my hair, but no he was considering some way to take my hair and attach it to his head.He does like his haircut, though. When he first looked in the mirror after it was done, he said "It's like Teagan!"
Delaney is infatuated with standing up. She pulls herself up on everything she can. As you can imagine, there have been lots of falls as her attempts are unsuccessful. Her forehead has a few bruises and red marks as a result. :(Today she was using the seat of her swing to pull herself up. She stood there swaying back and forth until the swing stopped rocking.

Milestones!

Delaney has been changing a lot lately. In the past few weeks she has started to crawl, gotten her first two teeth, and today she started pulling herself up. She is so proud when she pulls herself up. She just stands there until her legs give out.
She has also started babbling a lot more. She will now say "dada" and "mama", although I don't think she actually knows what the words mean. She just repeats the words when we say them.

Sesame Street is paying off
Here's a video from a few weeks ago of Connor singing his version of the ABCs. He hasn't quite mastered it yet.

Weird Kid
At the grocery store the other day, Connor was sitting in the big section of the cart and Delaney was in her carseat in front of me. I couldn't really see Connor sitting there in the cart, but was talking to him while I kept adding food to the cart. I noticed a few people staring at us, so I walked around the cart to see what Connor was doing. He was holding a 5-pack of raw corn on the cob, wrapped in plastic wrap. He was chewing a large bite of corn and cellophane wrap quite happily. That's right, he ate plastic wrap, and he would have kept going had I not insisted that he wait until we got home.

4 months!
Delaney just turned 4 months old. She really wants to move all the time. She is a very good baby, especially since she sleeps through the night about 5 nights out of the week. That Pooh bear is always near her because it's Laney's favorite toy. She keeps herself occupied by "talking" to the bear for minutes at a time :)

Super Connor!
Connor likes to call himself Super Connor because he really likes Super Grover. He used to tell people "Super Connor to the rescue".
The other day we were out and he was greeting people by walking up to them and saying, (all in one breath) " Hi. How are you? I'm to the rescue". Most people had no idea what he was saying and just looked at me bewildered.
Delaney has been busy chewing on her hands, rolling back and forth and scooting herself around. It's very cute but also annoying. In her crib at night, she keeps scooting until she bumps her head against the bars. Then she screams until Mama comes and moves her back.

Welcome
A brag blog to show off all the cute things my kids are doing- and they are pretty cute.
The title for this blog was taken from a famous poem. Here is the last stanza.
The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.
Connor is 2 years and 3 months. Delaney is 3 months.
Here they are in outfits Gramy McNay brought them from Japan.
As you can see Delaney is infatuated with her hands right now.

Monsters!
Connor has been convinced that monsters are in his room at night. Everynight after "monster check", we pray with him and ask God to keep him safe. Today Connor and I were talking at lunch and he told me "Jesus keeps the monsters away."
Here are pix from Connor's first visit to the barber a few weeks ago. (Previous haircuts have been done by dad on the porch). He was not happy to be in the barber's chair.
